Repair, share, recycle: because giving new life to your garments is an act of love for the planet
In today's world of fashion, where trends change at dizzying speed and clothing is often seen as disposable, repairing garments takes on a meaning that goes far beyond simple mending or replacing a zip. It becomes a gesture of environmental awareness and social responsibility, a way to counter the excessive production of textile waste and give new life to garments that would otherwise end up in the trash.
Makalù Store and Crazy share this philosophy and, with its repair centre, is committed to giving your clothes a new future.
Why is repairing clothes important?
- Reduces environmental impact: The production of a new garment requires a considerable consumption of natural resources and energy, with a significant impact on the environment. Repairing an existing garment, on the other hand, means drastically reducing this consumption and extending the life of a product that would otherwise be thrown away. - Promotes conscious consumption: Repairing clothes encourages us to reflect on the value of what we own and to take better care of our garments. This change of mentality is essential to counteract the throwaway culture and to promote more conscious and responsible consumption.
- It supports the local economy: Repairing clothes means employing local tailors and craftsmen, enhancing their skills and contributing to the local economy.
